I Eat Fire

Hello once again everyone.

Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve written. Last weekend of Sept 19-21 I was on Fall Retreat with CSF, and this past week I’ve been sick with a cold and sore throat, so I haven’t felt up to doing much. But I’m starting to feel better and hopefully within a few days I’ll be completely healthy.

Fall Retreat went well, we had around 60 people go. Friday night we had our first session and then a game of capture the flag. Saturday we had two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, and a lot of free time which we spent just hanging out and swimming or kayaking at the lake. Saturday night there was a talent show. I wanted to perform my fire-eating act but the people running the camp wouldn’t allow me to do it inside where the talent show was being held. I had already told a handful of people that I could eat fire and they wanted me to show them afterwards since I couldn’t participate in the talent show, so about half an hour after the show (which was late that night) I got my stuff ready outside and starting my routine. Within minutes word spread and the entire group had turned out to watch me eat fire. Anyway, it went great, everyone loved it and now that seems to be what I’m known for. When meeting new people I get introduced as “This is Josh. He eats fire.” Not that I mind.

Dropping temperatures and colorful leaves are evidence that Fall is upon us. I’m wearing mostly sweaters and pants anymore, which I prefer over shorts and a tee shirt anyway. It takes me a good 12 minutes or so to walk from my dorm to the building where most of my classes are held, and in even this mildly cold weather it’s enough to give you a red nose ears. Makes me think of how cold it’s going to get having to walk that in the winter. Brrr . . .

It’s hard to believe I’ve been here over a month already. Time has flown by, it doesn’t seem like it’s been that long. I’ve made lots of friends and gotten used to my schedule, so I’m finally settled in.

Oh, and by the way, if anyone happens to have a spare VCR lying around you don’t need I could really use one. The new season of one of my favorite shows starts up this week and it shows the same time my weekly Bible study meets. I don’t expect you do, but it never hurts to ask.

Hope this letter finds everyone well. Until next time,
Josh
