The Secret of C.S. Lewis

Posted by Josh on Sep 27th, 2007

What is it about some of the popular authors that make their writing inspiring and thought-provoking? Why do people like C.S. Lewis?
He certainly isn’t the easiest of reads, yet even when you have to read a passage three or four times to “get it,” when you do finally understand his point, it is one so wonderful and so deep that you must set the book down and think.

So why are readers willing to push themselves through such writing? Because of the wisdom hidden in the content.

C.S. Lewis had a strong connection with God, allowing him access to such wisdom that, when put into writing, was desirable to attain. C.S. Lewis is no more a good writer than Billy Graham a good speaker; but they teach on subjects of such depth, from such wisdom, with such passion, that they have become icons of their venues.

Personal Blog

Posted by Josh on Aug 12th, 2007

In October of last year I found a site that claimed I could easily earn the object of my desire for free, and I took the plunge. After blogging about my experience my site became subject to what I call “the free Mac effect.” Thousands and thousands of people visited over the months to come, and I still have no idea how many have gotten Macs of their own, though I know the number is something tremendous.

A friend of mine told me late last year that I’d never be able to take my site back to the personal blog it had been before October. I simply replied, “we’ll see,” and wondered where things might go.

Thinking ahead, I am planning on not only continuing the freebie content on my site, but expanding it in hopes of creating a “one-stop shop” for people to find, review, discuss, and research freebie sites, offers, and everything related. This is a lot of information to organize, and will take some time, but it is my goal.

That being my vision, rather than mixing random posts of an everyday nature into the freebie-related topics of my blog, I’ve created this separate section for such content. The RSS feeds for this blog are separate, as are the posts, categories, and tags. I may eventually move much of the pre-freebie-related stuff from my main blog into the archives of this one, but it will stay put for now, for the sake of convenience. Themes for the separate site sections will also (eventually) be different.

I have only an inkling of what this “personal” blog will entail, though I do hope to make it interesting. I guess we’ll see. :)
